"I used to disappear to the movies all the time because I had asthma and the folks at home did everything they could to keep me from getting upset or I might have a seizure.
I especially liked pompous, monumental Hollywood movies. When I got home, I would start painting with watercolors the pictures I had just seen in the movies."

"The Aviator" is Martin Scorsese's biographical drama telling the story of American aviator and kino-producer Howard Hughes. During the first 52 minutes of the film, scenes appear in shades of red and blue only. This was done, according to Scorsese, to simulate the first color films for double-sided packages.

Martin Scorsese originally invited Al Pacino to play Frank Costello, but the actor declined. Jack Nicholson became the second candidate for the role. Al Pacino, on the other hand, would later appear with Scorsese in The Irishman (2019). Scorsese gave a lot of freedom in improvisation to Jack Nicholson and allowed him to rewrite his character's dialogues, trusting the actor's experience.
Originally Colin Sullivan was to play Brad Pitt, who was also the producer of the picture. But later the actor changed his mind and went to star in the picture "Babylon". In his place took Matt Damon, who to prepare for the role spent a lot of time in a real police station.
